Donation Information
Horn & Ivory Books appreciates book donations that align with our store’s inventory needs and community interests. Donations will be accepted on an as-needed basis, with preference given to popular genres, Kansas authors, and books in excellent condition. While we welcome most fiction and nonfiction titles, we prioritize gently used bestsellers, classic literature, children’s books, and books relevant to local readers. Certain genres, such as outdated reference books, encyclopedias, and mass-market paperbacks in poor condition, may not be accepted.

Accepted Donations
We accept gently used books in good condition for resale or donation. This includes children's books to adult books, fiction and non-fiction books.
However, if you would like to upcycle or recycle we accept books without strong odors or mold.

Not Accepted Donations
Damaged books-water damage, mold, missing pages, excessive writing or highlighting.
Outdated textbooks, encyclopedias, or reference books.
Magazines and newspapers.
Books with strong odors-smoke, mildew, etc.

Processing
Books in excellent condition may be added to our used book section for resale.
Donations that do not meet resale or donation criteria may be upcycled or responsibly recycled.
Large donations (over 20 books) require prior approval to ensure we have space to process them.
